Top Questions Patients Ask.
The most frequently asked questions, answered here. Need more help? Just ask!
Do I need a prescription?
Yes. Prescription treatments require review and approval by a licensed healthcare provider. After you complete a medical intake, a provider reviews your health history, goals, and eligibility. If treatment is appropriate, the provider may issue a prescription that can be fulfilled by an independent licensed pharmacy.
What's the difference between our peptides and "research-only" or "medical grade" peptides?
Research-only peptides are not prescription medications, and are not approved for human use.
Every peptide we offer:
Requires a prescription
Is dispensed by a licensed U.S. compounding pharmacy
Is intended for patient care, not research
Is produced under pharmacy regulatory standards, not supplement or gray-market rules
These are fundamentally different supply chains.
Are our peptides "medical grade"?
We intentionally do not use the term “medical grade” because it has no legal or regulatory definition and is often used to market gray-market peptides. Instead, we focus on what actually matters: prescription-only medications prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies under 503A standards. That creates a more appropriate healthcare framework for prescription-based patient care.
Are peptides steroids?
No. Peptides and steroids are different types of compounds. Some peptides are studied or used in specific medical contexts, while hormone therapies are used to evaluate or address hormone-related concerns when clinically appropriate. A licensed provider can explain whether any treatment option is appropriate based on your health history, labs, and goals.
Are our peptides 3rd party tested?
When prescribed, medications are prepared and dispensed by licensed U.S. compounding pharmacies. These pharmacies operate under applicable federal and state pharmacy requirements, including standards related to compounding, sterility, quality controls, and dispensing. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality.
Do we provide a Certificate of Analysis (COAs)?
Certificates of Analysis are not typically provided directly to patients for prescription compounded medications. Licensed pharmacies maintain quality control and documentation processes according to applicable pharmacy laws and standards. Patients with questions about pharmacy quality practices may contact the dispensing pharmacy directly.
Do we handle or re-label medications ourselves?
No. We never see, touch, store, label, or ship prescription medications. Once prescribed, medications are prepared and shipped directly from the compounding pharmacy to the patient’s home, ensuring chain-of-custody integrity, proper storage, and compliance with pharmacy regulations.
Do we recommend research-only peptides or "medical grade" peptides?
No. We do not recommend or support the use of research-only peptides or products marketed as “medical grade.”
Research-only peptides are not approved for human use, are not prescription medications, and are not regulated under the same standards as pharmacy-dispensed treatments.
The term “medical grade” is not a regulated designation and is often used in marketing without a consistent or verified standard.
Instead, we focus on what actually matters for safety and consistency:
- Prescription-only therapies
- Reviewed and approved by licensed medical providers
- Prepared and dispensed by U.S.-licensed compounding pharmacies (503A)
This ensures proper sourcing, dosing, and oversight—so patients receive therapies intended for real medical use, not experimentation.
What are peptides?
Tiny proteins, or chains of aminos acids that your body already makes. We use them to help your body work more efficiently, providing a stronger signal to work like it used to.
Are peptides safe?
Safety depends on the specific treatment, dose, patient history, medical conditions, other medications, and provider oversight. Peptide therapies are not appropriate for everyone. That is why every patient must complete a medical review before any prescription treatment is considered.
If prescribed, your provider will explain potential benefits, risks, side effects, and alternatives based on your individual situation.
At Powered by Peptides, all therapies are:
- Prescribed by licensed medical providers
- Sourced from U.S.-licensed compounding pharmacies
- Personalized based on your health history and goals
This ensures that dosing, quality, and safety are carefully managed at every step.
Like any medical treatment, peptides are not one-size-fits-all. That’s why every patient goes through a medical review process to determine what’s appropriate for them. When used responsibly and monitored properly, most patients tolerate peptide therapies very well.
Peptides are costly. How do I justify the cost?
The cost of care should be weighed carefully. Our goal is to provide a transparent process that includes medical intake review, provider-guided treatment consideration, pharmacy coordination when applicable, and ongoing support. Treatment is never guaranteed, and results vary by patient.
Do I have to inject peptides?
Some treatments are administered by injection, while others may be available as nasal sprays, capsules, creams, or other forms depending on the medication and provider recommendation. Your provider and pharmacy instructions will explain the appropriate route, dose, and administration method if treatment is prescribed.
How do I know if I need Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT)?
Symptoms such as low energy, reduced libido, changes in body composition, mood changes, brain fog, or poor sleep may be associated with low testosterone, but symptoms alone are not enough to determine whether Testosterone Replacement Therapy is appropriate. Bloodwork and licensed provider evaluation are required.
Do I need to talk to my doctor first?
You may choose to speak with your primary care provider, especially if you have ongoing medical conditions or take prescription medications. Our affiliated licensed providers can also review your health history and determine whether treatment options are appropriate. When helpful, coordination with your existing healthcare team may be recommended.
Why should I start with bloodwork?
Bloodwork can provide a useful baseline and may be required for certain therapies, including testosterone or hormone-related treatment. Lab testing helps providers evaluate eligibility, monitor safety, and personalize care when appropriate.
Why wouldn't i just use my primary care and insurance for bloodwork?
Some patients choose direct-pay lab panels because they want a more targeted set of markers or clearer upfront pricing. Patients may also choose to work with their primary care provider or use insurance-based lab testing when available.
Do peptides and other meds work immediately?
Response time varies by patient, treatment type, health history, dosing, adherence, and goals. Some patients may notice changes earlier than others, while some may not experience the desired response. Follow your provider’s instructions and communicate any side effects, concerns, or lack of response during treatment.
Peptides, Sports Rules & Responsible Medical Use
Some peptides and hormone-related substances are prohibited by professional, collegiate, and amateur sports organizations. That does not mean they are appropriate, safe, or effective for everyone. It also does not mean they should be used without medical oversight.
At Powered by Peptides, we focus on provider-guided care for real-life health and wellness goals. Patients come to us for support related to energy, hormone health, weight management, recovery, sleep, stress, and overall wellness. Every treatment option requires review by a licensed healthcare provider to determine whether it is medically appropriate.
If you are a competitive athlete or subject to drug testing, you should check the rules of your sport or organization before starting any treatment. Treatment is not guaranteed, and not all therapies are appropriate or available for every patient.
Our staff has first-hand knowledge of the benefits of peptides and hormone therapies for struggling moms and dads. We’re always available to discuss treatment options too.
Expert Guidance from Providers
Access to your dedicated team is just a message away. If treatment is prescribed, ongoing communication is available as part of your care experience. Patients can ask questions, report side effects, and receive guidance related to their prescribed protocol.

The Powered By Peptides Story
Powered by Peptides was built from a very real place.
I was living through the same struggles so many parents and professionals face every day. I wasn’t sleeping well. I’d wake up groggy, drag myself out of bed, and feel like I was pushing through the day instead of actually living it. My focus was off, my patience was thin, and I didn’t feel as present with my family as I wanted to be. No matter how consistent I tried to be with exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle, I still felt like something was missing.
When I first spoke with my doctor, I was told my testosterone was “in the normal range.” But normal on paper did not match how I felt day to day. That experience pushed me to ask better questions, get a more complete evaluation, and better understand how labs, symptoms, lifestyle, and medical history all need to be considered together.
What I learned changed the way I looked at health. I realized that people do not always fit neatly into standard ranges or one-size-fits-all plans. Two people can have similar labs and completely different symptoms, goals, and responses to care. That is why better evaluation, appropriate testing, provider oversight, and ongoing communication matter.
As I continued learning more about hormone health, peptide therapy, and personalized wellness care, I saw how confusing this space can be for patients. There is a lot of information online, but not all of it is accurate, responsible, or connected to licensed medical oversight. I wanted to help create a better experience: one that was educational, transparent, and built around provider-guided review instead of guesswork.
Powered by Peptides was created to make that process easier to understand. We connect patients with licensed healthcare providers who can review their health history, discuss their goals, evaluate whether treatment may be appropriate, and help guide the next step.
Our mission is simple: help patients feel heard, ask better questions, and access personalized care through a responsible medical process.
This isn't about vanity - it's about helping patients better understand their options and take the next step through licensed medical review.

Compounded Medication Notice
Some treatment options may involve compounded medications when determined appropriate by a licensed provider. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not review compounded medications for safety, effectiveness, or quality.
Compounded medications may differ from FDA-approved products in strength, formulation, appearance, packaging, dosing, risks, and available evidence. If a compounded medication is prescribed, your provider and pharmacy instructions should be followed carefully.
