Enclomiphene

Enclomiphene is an oral selective estrogen receptor modulator commonly discussed in relation to low testosterone, secondary hypogonadism, endogenous testosterone production, and fertility-conscious hormone support in men. It may be considered when a provider is evaluating alternatives to direct testosterone replacement.

The science behind

Enclomiphene

Enclomiphene is the trans-isomer of clomiphene citrate and acts as a selective estrogen receptor modulator, or SERM. Rather than supplying testosterone directly, enclomiphene is commonly discussed for its ability to influence the hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular axis. Clinical studies in men with secondary hypogonadism have shown increases in luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, and endogenous testosterone production.

Enclomiphene is not an FDA-approved medication for male hypogonadism. FDA has evaluated enclomiphene citrate for compounding purposes, and as of April 2026 it remained in FDA’s Category 1 list of bulk substances under evaluation for section 503A compounding. Availability therefore depends on applicable law, pharmacy policy, formulation requirements, and provider review.

How It Works

Enclomiphene works by blocking estrogen feedback at estrogen receptors involved in hypothalamic and pituitary signaling. In medical terms, this may increase gonadotropin-releasing hormone signaling and subsequently increase LH and FSH, which can stimulate the testes to produce testosterone and support spermatogenesis.

In simpler terms, enclomiphene works differently from traditional TRT. Instead of giving the body testosterone from an outside source, it may help stimulate the body’s own hormone-signaling system to produce more testosterone when that pathway is still functioning.

This distinction is especially relevant for men who are concerned about fertility. Clinical trials have found that enclomiphene increased testosterone while maintaining sperm concentrations, whereas topical testosterone suppressed LH and FSH and reduced spermatogenesis. That does not mean enclomiphene guarantees fertility or that it is appropriate for every cause of low testosterone.

Our Commitment to Safe, Transparent Care

At Powered by Peptides, we lead with education, medical review, and responsible access. We do not believe every man with low energy, low libido, or a single low testosterone result automatically needs TRT or another hormone medication.

Prescription treatment requires medical intake and approval by a licensed healthcare provider. If medication is prescribed, it may be fulfilled by an independent licensed U.S. pharmacy. Powered by Peptides does not compound, dispense, store, relabel, or ship prescription medications.

Some treatment options may not be available, may not be eligible for compounding, or may not be appropriate under applicable law, pharmacy policies, formulation requirements, or clinical standards. Compounded medications, when applicable, are not FDA-approved and are not reviewed by FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality before marketing.
