hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin)

hCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin, is a hormone medication commonly discussed in men’s hormone and reproductive health. In appropriate patients, it may support signaling involved in testosterone production and testicular function and may be considered when fertility or preservation of natural hormone function is an important goal.

* Natural Testosterone Signaling

* Fertility-Conscious Hormone Support

* Testicular Function Support

* Injectable Treatment Option

* Prescription treatments require medical intake and approval by a licensed healthcare provider. Treatment is not guaranteed, and results vary by patient. Some medications may be compounded or used off-label when determined appropriate by a provider. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness, or quality.

The science behind

hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin)

Human chorionic gonadotropin, or hCG, is a glycoprotein hormone that interacts with the same luteinizing hormone/chorionic gonadotropin receptor used by luteinizing hormone, or LH. In men, this signaling can stimulate Leydig cells in the testes to produce testosterone. This makes hCG different from testosterone replacement therapy because it works through the body’s reproductive hormone signaling pathway rather than supplying testosterone directly.

FDA-approved hCG products exist for specific indications, including selected cases of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in males and certain infertility-related uses in women. FDA labeling also specifically states that hCG has not been demonstrated to be an effective treatment for obesity or weight loss. Use outside an approved indication requires appropriate medical evaluation.

How It Works

In men, hCG acts similarly to LH, one of the hormones normally released through the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. By activating LH/CG receptors in the testes, hCG can stimulate testosterone production and support intratesticular hormone signaling.

In simpler terms, hCG sends a signal to the testes to remain involved in testosterone production. This is why it may come up in conversations involving secondary hypogonadism, reproductive health, fertility goals, or selected men receiving testosterone therapy.

hCG should not automatically be described as a fertility-preserving add-on for every TRT patient. Fertility is more complicated than testosterone production alone, and sperm production also depends on FSH and other factors. Current endocrine guidance emphasizes identifying the cause of low testosterone and considering reproductive goals before choosing therapy.

Our Commitment to Safe, Transparent Care

At Powered by Peptides, we lead with education, medical review, and responsible access. We do not believe every patient with a hormone-related concern needs the same medication or combination of medications.

Prescription treatment requires medical intake and approval by a licensed healthcare provider. If medication is prescribed, it may be fulfilled by an independent licensed U.S. pharmacy. Powered by Peptides does not compound, dispense, store, relabel, or ship prescription medications.

FDA-approved hCG products are available for specific medical indications. Some formulations or uses may differ depending on clinical circumstances, pharmacy availability, and applicable law. If a compounded medication is prescribed, compounded medications are not FDA-approved and are not reviewed by FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality before marketing.
